About Burmese Pythons
The Burmese python is a large, nonvenomous constrictor snake that is not native to Florida. These snakes represent a threat to the Everglades ecosystem and the native wildlife that live there, including wading birds, small mammals and other reptiles. Learn more about Burmese pythons.
Burmese pythons look similar to some of Florida’s native snakes. Native snakes are an important part of the ecosystem and should be left alone. Learn how to identify a Burmese python.
If you’ve just seen a live Burmese python or other nonnative snake on the loose, please report it by calling the FWC’s Exotic Species Hotline at 888-Ive-Got1. See additional information about how to report dead nonnative snakes and other nonnative species.
Scout snakes found in Big Cypress WMA or adjacent lands should not be harmed or removed.
